Our services are planned for what is considered “regular hair”, with regards to length, thickness, texture and the absence artificial hair integrations.

As a basic rule of thumb, if your hair requires additional time to cut, style or color when you visit the salon, or if you have hair extensions, then you will most likely be scheduled for additional time and be charged an extended service fee.

Quite simply, it takes more time and application of product to provide treatments to some clients, and we want to make sure that your service provider is prepared for this prior to your appointment. Most importantly, we want you to have the best experience possible and be sure that we allow sufficient time to complete the full process.

Hair Type

If you are unsure of how to classify your hair, then please review the evaluation criteria and make sure to add descriptions that could be helpful for our staff.

Extensions

With extensions, our approach is adapted to help protect your investment, using a gentler process. While not absolutely necessary, it is always worth considering a Head Spa treatment prior to your planned maintenance or move-up routine.

Extended Service Fee Explained

Evaluating Your Hair

Consider the following;

Long Hair

Managing hair, which is very long requires careful washing and rinsing to avoid tangles.

  • Mid-back: Falls down the spine or to the base of the shoulder blades.

  • Waist-length: Extends past the lower back.

Thick Hair

Managing hair which is dense and heavy when wet requires extra attention to product application and removal.

  • Volume and Weight: Lush, voluminous, heavy, dense, or full.

  • Texture & Density: Coarse, bushy, or shaggy.

Textured Hair

Managing hair, which is dense, has specific curl patterns, or is prone to tangling, requires extra care and specific tools.

  • Texture & Feel: Dense, springy, coarse, thick, soft, or voluminous.

  • Curl & Coil Patterns: Coils, corkscrews, tight spirals, or sculpted puffs.

  • Action & Movement: How the hair interacts with motion - such as coils that bounce, spring, or float around the face.

Identifying Your Extensions

Tell us exactly what you have and help us identify the placement of your extensions.

  • Clip-ins: should ideally be removed at home prior to a treatment and then there are no restrictions or concerns to be managed. We can assist if you wish.

  • K-tips: very workable, though extra care is given as adhesives naturally weaken over time, even just with washing at home. The thorough and intensive nature of a Head Spa treatment can accelerate this process.

  • Sew-ins and Wefts: can be more easily managed, though extra care is required and access to the scalp can be reduced by the need to work around the attachment points.

  • Micro-Beads and Micro-Links: Typically leaves most of your natural hair and scalp exposed for easy washing and scalp access, so while additional care is required, a complete Head Spa experience is perfectly possible.

  • Tape-ins: are most susceptible to the breakdown of adhesives and loosening of the attachments. We can still provide treatment but want client’s to be aware that the thoroughness of a treatment could be somewhat limited due to the nature of these extensions.
